THE AIRFIELD

Our base is located in Brakpan - Benoni Airfield, East of Johannesburg downtown in South Africa. We are just 5 nm South East of Johannesburg International Airport. By the road it is only 20 min. drive from the international airport. The airfield has 1500 m. long asphalt runway with night operation lights activated in 122,7 mHz @ 7 clicks.

Here we have the old and well establish Flight School run by the famous "Slagi" Lugg.  The Brakpan Aeroclub has more than one hundred various aircrafts in the hangars. Brakpan-Benoni Airfield has unique atmosphere of old days, when flying was the only attraction for the involved people. This small aviation society has successfully avoided the ever so popular and visible trend seen today on other Johannesburg airfields - "show offs" and "big money"...

In this friendly location and atmosphere we operate as a family from our hangar, with the goal to enjoy our life by flying together. The hangar is new and quite roomy to accommodate easy few aircrafts. It is also possible to extend this hangar if our Squadron will expand. In the hangar we have the lecture/briefing room, office, library, kitchen and the toilet. Obviously we have water and electricity connected here too. We are also planning for a telephone land line...the taxiway is in the way to get telephone line.
